About

“The Bakhtovs’ House” is a family of two Ukrainian artists Tetiana Bakhtova and Volodymyr Bakhtov who unite their efforts in creative collaboration. They live and work in Mykolaiv and in their art residence The Bakhtovs’ House in the village of Parutino situated near the ruins of ancient Greek city-state of Olbia in the Black Sea region of the Southern Ukraine.
The Bakhtovs’ House Creative Association joined the Association of Art Galleries of Ukraine in 2004.The Bakhtovs’ House is a house and studio built upon the project of Vladimir and Tatiana Bakhtov in the Mediterranean architectural style reminiscent of late antiquity buildings and located in the protected zone of Olbia National Historical Archeological Reserve.
The House grew slowly, year by year, like a mighty organism. With the construction of the House, the construction of an autonomous artistic universe began. Its laws apply not only to the creative process but also to the very lifestyle of the artists themselves, transforming it into a continuous performance of “metacolonisation,” in which all guests and visitors of the Bakhtovs’ House become unwittingly involved. Bakhtov seems to be constructing an artistic model of the world to test the hypothesis of the possibility of being an “ancient Greek” in the conditions of modern civilisation with all its attributes.
